MakeAnObject

Maurizio  Casirati, a.k.a. MakeAnObject, set out on his artistic journey twenty years ago when he moved from Cassano d’Adda to Naples and started  to change the aspect of unwanted materials, like  driftwood,  discarded furniture, stone and marble, in such a way that they acquired new life in his hands. The inspiration is provided by the materials themselves, which had various functions and forms in a “previous life” and, on coming into contact with Mao’s artistic vision, become  an integral part of  the  creative  process. The struggle  that  develops  between   the  artist  and  the  laziness  of a for-too-long,  undervalued  material renders the work enthralling and confers greater character and personality on the finished piece.

Only recently has Mao moved into the use of painting as a way  to experiment with  new  visual  forms,  albeit  still using objects with a past behind them.  This territory was, until  recently, little  explored by   the artist,  but  has opened up new prospectives for his expressive research and allowed him to capture moments of  cinematographic suggestion. The message transmitted by  art, elitist  and  cerebral, make sometimes the visual experience complicated and difficult to understand,  Mao  invites visitors to let themselves slide between the forms and colors without looking for meanings that lie beyond the surface. The things you will see are, ultimately, no more than discarded materials which have been reconsidered.
